Bloomberg’s gun control push has helped 10 states pass ‘Constitutional Carry’ laws

Last night, North Dakota became the 13th state to pass Constitutional Carry into law. The law repeals the requirement that forces citizens to ask permission from the government to carry a concealed firearm. The North Dakota Senate passed the bill on Tuesday and it was signed into law by Republican Governor Doug Burgum late last night. They have more work do to though; openly carrying a firearm in North Dakota still requires a permit. They follow New Hampshire which became the 12th state to pass Constitutional Carry into law back in February when Governor Chris Sununu signed Senate Bill 12 into law.

What’s interesting is that ten states have now passed some type of Constitutional Carry law since 2010. Previous to that only Vermont and Alaska were Constitutional Carry states, Vermont having been one since their inception. Alaska passed the law in 2003. Some will question the true validity of Arkansas a Constitutional Carry state. Their laws are a bit convoluted and not as straight forward as other states. Various states have indeed passed these laws with some type of requirements.

Why is it that so many states are passing these “permitless carry” laws across the country? Laws that no longer require citizens to ask permission of the government to practice rights that are actually protected by the 2nd Amendment, especially when it comes to carrying concealed? There seems to be one common denominator in answering that question – Michael Bloomberg.

Bloomberg is the New York City multi-billionaire who has armed security for his own family but doesn’t want ordinary citizens to provide their own armed security for their families. Bloomberg started the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group back in 2006 but they didn’t gain much traction. MAIG started gaining traction in 2013 but was excoriated in the news for memorializing cop killers and one of the Boston Bombers during an anti-gun rally in Concord.

Bloomberg then tried to transform his failed gun control organization into Moms Demand in 2012. This group gained some traction until it was discovered that supposed grassroots founder Shannon Watts was nothing but a paid hack for Bloomberg. They have flailed and failed ever since. Democrats love them of course, what’s not to love about a bunch of half-baked women who ignorantly support gun control?

When Moms Demand came up short, Bloomberg then created “Everytown for Gun Safety” in 2014 with gun safety being the last thing on their minds. Everytown isn’t about gun safety; they are about gun confiscation, gun bans, gun owner registration and more gun free zones.

Ordinary citizens who were unassuming gun owners who enjoyed hunting, shooting sports and owned firearms for protection suddenly found themselves demonized as evil criminals who hated children and didn’t care about the safety of their family or neighbors. Bloomberg’s harpies used dead children as props to push their gun control agenda and thought nothing of the children who had been saved thanks to gun owners. The media went along with the agenda and further pushed law-abiding gun owners to react.

Let’s face reality about the gun lobby as well. Democrats and their gun control partners like to paint the NRA as THE gun lobby who are nothing but evil influencers for gun manufacturers. What they don’t get is the people who are actually the “gun lobby” are the ordinary citizens they continue to demonize. It was gun owners who demanded and fought for Constitutional Carry in states. It was regular, everyday people who had enough of Bloomberg and his ilk pushing extreme gun control laws on them and it was THEY who fought back.

Americans have repudiated Bloomberg’s mission to disarm the population and have come out fighting to protect their own rights. This isn’t a random correlation. Based on the number of states that have passed Constitutional Carry laws since Bloomberg started spending millions to demonize law-abiding gun owners and trample on their rights, it’s pretty clear that his push for gun control has only furthered Americans to fight for their 2nd Amendment rights.
