Embarrassing: NH Dems Welcome Maxine Waters, then Shun her

Yesterday, the Strafford County Democrats held their annual picnic in New Durham. They actually invited (most likely with the help of Carol Shea-Porter) Maxine Waters, one of the “most corrupt members of congress,” according to the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).

Right before the event, the press was told they were not welcome to attend. There was no reason given for keeping the press out but it could be due to the partisan attacks that were flying before the event took place. From WMUR:

NHGOP Chair Jeanie Forrester rankled her Democratic counterpart, Raymond Buckley, by charging that the Sunday fundraiser is actually benefiting Manchester Ward 1 Alderman Kevin Cavanaugh, the Democratic candidate in a July 25 special state Senate election in three Manchester wards and the towns of Hooksett, Bow, Dunbarton and Candia.

“Jeanie Forrester is lying and she knows it,“ Buckley said. “Neither Kevin Cavanaugh nor his campaign have ever spoken with Maxine Waters.” The NHDP said that the fundraiser is for the Strafford County Democrats, and not Cavanaugh.

Of course, maybe New Hampshire Democrats realized just how bad Maxine Waters actually is for their party. Waters supports a cop killer. A cop killer who assassinated a police officer, escaped from prison and has been living in exile in Cuba:

In 1998 Waters voted in favor of a measure calling on Castro to turn over (to U.S. authorities) a female fugitive named Assata Olugbala Shakur, who had received refugee status in Havana after escaping in November 1979 from a U.S. prison — where she had been serving a life sentence for her 1973 execution-style murder of a New Jersey state trooper. After having cast the aforementioned vote, Waters learned that Shakur was actually the former Black Panther Joanne Chesimard, who had taken a new name in the early 1970s. Once Waters was aware of the fugitive’s actual identity, the congresswoman penned a letter of apology to Castro and urged the Cuban dictator to continue safeguarding the convicted killer — because the latter been “persecuted for her civil-rights work” in the United States. Wrote Waters on September 29, 1998:

““Dear President Castro, I am writing to clarify my position on a resolution recently passed by the United States House of Representatives on September 14, 1998. I, and some of the Members of the Congressional Black Caucus, mistakenly voted for House Concurrent Resolution 254 which called on the Government of Cuba to extradite to the United States Joanne Chesimard and all other individuals who have fled the United States from political persecution and received political asylum in Cuba. Joanne Chesimard was the birth name of a political activist known to most Members of the Congressional Black Caucus as Assata Shakur. For the record, I am opposed to the resolution. I unequivocally stated that a mistake was made and I would have voted against the legislation.

Waters also supports murderous dictator Fidel Castro and his brother Raul, who is now in charge of the Communist country. These aren’t exactly ideals shared by a majority of Granite Staters, other than the extreme left.

Of course, Democrats slammed Republicans when a Kellyanne Conway event was closed to the press:

The Strafford County Democrats were actually pretty quiet about the whole event but some in attendance were posting photos on line of local politicians celebrating Waters’ appearance. Given that Waters loves attention, it’s surprising she didn’t demand the press be there.

It’s unclear how a woman as horrifying and corrupt as Maxine Waters is inspiring to anyone. Maybe Frost seeks a life of corruption, while treating the people in her district like lepers:

Of course, Shea-Porter doesn’t grasp that the U.S. is a Republic. She’s also one of the worst U.S. Congressional members New Hampshire has ever had. She represents her party, not her constituency:

No extreme left-wing picnic is complete without the King of Christian Religious Bigotry:

As usual, Waters has nothing to offer except rhetoric against Trump. Funny thing, Trump only lost to Clinton by around 2,700 votes in the Granite State. Isolating Trump voters, who are Democrats and Independents, probably isn’t a good idea:

There’s been no official reason why the press was shut out of the event, only assumptions at this point. It was probably a good idea given Waters’ outrageous rhetoric and history of corruption. While Waters may gin up the extremists of the New Hampshire Democrat Party’s base, she certainly isn’t representative of a majority of Democrats or Independents in the state.
