Last night Americans for Prosperity of New Hampshire (AFP-NH) held their annual Christmas party at Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester. They also gave their Conservative and Activist of the Year Awards as well. Previously they had announced that former gubernatorial candidate Frank Edelblut would receive the Conservative of the Year Award. The award is now named after Tom Thomson who was there to present it to Edelblut.
AFP’s annual activist award was also given to not one activist this year but a couple – Laura and John Spottiswood of Pelham. Grassroots Director Ross Connolly presented the award and spoke about the hours of volunteer work the Spottiswoods provided which included thousands of phone calls and walking many doors speaking with Granite Staters about issues that AFP was fighting for during 2016. The Kibbie family – Jeff, Olivia and James – were also mentioned as the runners up for their hours of volunteer work and dedication.
In a press release sent by AFP-NH sent earlier in the day yesterday, Director Greg Moore said the following:
“Tonight is an opportunity to celebrate the tremendous successes that AFP has had this year in New Hampshire and to honor those who worked so hard to deliver them,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “Before we turn the page and move into 2017 and focus on the opportunities there, it’s important to take a moment to look back and reflect on the extraordinary work of so many who are committed to expanding economic freedom across the Granite State.”
There were many activists as well as state legislators at the event. Moore thanked everyone for their support and reiterated that AFP’s successes during the year wouldn’t have been possible without all of their help.
AFP’s goal is to fight for “lower taxes, less government regulation and economic prosperity for all.” In 2016 they saw the benefits of a lowered business tax and will continue to work on lowering this tax since it is still the highest in all of New England. They also fought against Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion and plan on fighting for Right to Work in the coming session.
