Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity of New Hampshire (AFP) sent out a press release about a Georgetown University study that proves what they have been saying all along: healthy, childless adults would be disincentivized to participate in the workforce if the state passed Medicaid Expansion legislation. Turns out AFP was right all along.
Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion provides taxpayer-funded health insurance for able-bodied, childless adults within a certain income category. It is different from regular Medicaid which is for those who are disabled or have children and may not be able to work. Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion essentially provides “free” health insurance to 30-year-old men who live in their parents’ basement playing video games all day. There is no work requirement in New Hampshire thanks to the legislature. From the press release:
This explosive study demonstrates just how damaging ObamaCare Medicaid expansion is to the work ethic of the American people,” said Greg Moore, AFP-NH State Director. “For our nation to succeed, we need everyone who can work to get a job and move up a career ladder to realize their American Dream. Expanding ObamaCare without a work requirement is leaving thousands of New Hampshire citizens behind, causing them to lose out on the opportunity to build important job skills that would help them move forward.
The study is timely considering AFP is currently knocking on doors in districts around the state to alert voters about Republicans who voted for this massive, unsustainable welfare program that will insure New Hampshire will have to install an income or sales tax in the future. The latest representative they have been informing voters about is none other than the New Hampshire House Speaker Shawn Jasper.
Not only did Jasper vote for Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion but he pushed his leadership to vote for it as well. It’s unclear if the Republicans who voted for this massive welfare program would have voted it for it otherwise but it shows their own lack of character that they cared more about being in leadership than representing the people of New Hampshire.
Jasper has a huge credibility deficit since he only won the speakership role thanks to Democrats. During his stint as speaker, horribly ridiculous bills like banning teens from tanning were passed that did not pass under the Democrat-controlled house.
Obamacare’s medical welfare program for able-bodied adults without children was always a bad idea. What made it worse is some Republicans actually voted for this massive welfare program despite all the warnings against it.
It’s a known fact that Democrats don’t care about keeping people in poverty or raising taxes on the working and middle classes but Republicans are supposed to be the party that stands for these people. Under Jasper’s leadership and Senator Jeb Bradley’s as well, some Republicans have proven they are as much of a failure for Granite Staters as Democrats.
